NAASCon2008 | October 17-19 | Emory University, Atlanta, GA

NAASCon, the National Asian American Student Conference, is proud to announce its third national Asian American student conference to be held on October 17-19, 2008 at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

This conference seeks to examine the connections established in the 2006 conference and create new visions. The theme of this year's conference is From Visions to Actions: Let's Get Our Movements Going. It will explore the diverse breadth of issues Asian Americans have addressed, and develop new visions to keep our movements going. The conference is comprised of seven tracks: Immigration, Race, and Rights; Economic Justice: Housing, Healthcare and Labor; Gender and Sexuality; Educational Equity; Arts, Technology, and Media for Social Change; Campus and Community Organizing; and APA Issues 101. Included in each track is a panel session that will feature skills and best practices tactics from experienced organizers and fellow students from across the nation. During the conference, there will also be regional caucuses for students to network, present various issues of concern, and initiate advocacy campaigns.

We hope that this conference will help students realize their full leadership potential by encouraging participants to fortify their progressive ideals (and fiery convictions!) with meaningful, purposeful action. FROM VISIONS TO ACTIONS will be a nexus of APA student leaders, non-profit organizations, and grassroots community groups invested in the organization of collective action around issues affecting APA communities. We'll see you in October!
